We hope you have all enjoyed celebrating Organic September this month!

As we begin the final week of September, we thought we would give you a few more ideas on how to go organic till the end of the month, and emphasise the rewarding benefits of going organic.

We also have a few organic options available at Coin Street, ranging from restaurants to skincare shops – a perfect opportunity to visit if you’re on the South Bank.

What is Organic September?

Organic September is a month-long campaign which aims to raise awareness of organic products, and the brands, producers and farmers who bring them to us in the UK.

Foods labelled as organic must meet strict regulations on how they have been grown and produced. All organic food companies and farms are inspected yearly to ensure that they meet the high standards required for organic food under European law.

Why should you go organic?

When you buy organic, you can be sure that the products you are buying contain no artificial additives or preservatives, contain fewer pesticides, and conform to high standards of animal welfare. They also contain no genetically modified ingredients and have been produced sustainably.

The Soil Association says that switching just one item in your shop to organic can help contribute to changing our food system. Buying more organic food and cosmetics means more organic farms and fewer pesticides, which is better for the UK’s wildlife and means more farm animals are raised under higher welfare standards.

Organic options at Coin Street

If you’re visiting London’s iconic South Bank this week and are looking for some organic alternatives, why not visit Gabriel’s Wharf and Oxo Tower Wharf?

At Gabriel’s Wharf, Blomma Beauty stocks organic, vegan and cruelty-free skincare and cosmetic products handmade by independent retailers in the UK. Marsha is also big on ethics and sustainability, using free-roaming chickens and making as much use of the chicken as possible.

Over at Oxo Tower Wharf, La Gelatiera uses organic dairy produce in their ice cream, so you can grab an ethical scoop of Italian gelato!

We hope you’ve made the most of Organic September this year! As we approach the final week of September, it’s never too late to take part in the campaign for a good cause. With a variety of organic options available across London’s South Bank, there are plenty of ways to get involved.
