Celebrating buildings that stand the test of time, the Architecture Today Awards focus on projects with a proven track record for delivering long-lasting environmental, functional, community, and cultural value. Unlike traditional awards that highlight novelty, these awards exclusively consider projects in use for at least three years, reflecting a commitment to durability and impact.
Originally completed in 1996 by architects Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands, Oxo Tower Wharf was praised by the judges for redefining possibilities on the South Bank. They commented:
"Ripping up the rule book, Oxo Tower Wharf challenged every preconception about what it was possible to deliver on the south side of the Thames back in the 1980s. The passion that drove this project was still very much in evidence in the presentation by co-protagonists Alex Lifschutz and Iain Tuckett at the Architecture Today Awards live finals. A true game-changer that epitomises enduring success."
Now in its third year, the Architecture Today Awards, sponsored by AccuRoof, Brick Development Association, The Concrete Centre, Leviat, Total Synergy, and VMZINC, represent a cultural shift towards celebrating longevity. This year’s ceremony recognised winners across ten categories, alongside special honours such as the Editor’s Award and the Outstanding Contribution Award.
