Explore the hidden gems of London’s South Bank this winter at Gabriel’s Wharf.

Gabriel’s Wharf is a haven of quirky independent retailers and delicious, independently owned food spots in the heart of London. Located next to the river Thames in the cultural hub of the South Bank, we offer a unique shopping experience, where visitors can find handmade knitwear, personalised jewellery, rare vintage finds, vegan skincare, and much more.

Our street food vendors and gourmet restaurants can also fulfil any craving you have. Our cuisines range across the globe, from authentic Italian pizzas to colourful Caribbean lunches, hearty toasted sandwiches, and fresh Mexican street food.

In the second instalment of this series, three new promo videos directed by filmmaker Jonah Wyn Pugh offer further insight into the remarkable artisans at Gabriel’s Wharf:

Joanne Plumb Knitwear

Joanne Plumb has owned her boutique, Joanne Plumb Knitwear, at Gabriel’s Wharf for over 20 years.

Joanne creates beautiful bespoke, handmade fabrics that are not found anywhere else. Every garment and accessory is designed and knitted by Joanne from start to finish, individually handmade using mohair, cotton, linen, merino, and pure wool.

All of Joanne’s fabrics are knitted on various knitting machines which she manually uses, sourced from Uppingham, England.

Over the years, Joanne has learned that women love the feel of beautiful fabrics, and they adore wearing bright colours.

Joanne creates happiness through the vast array of colours in her knitwear. She loves dressing women from all over the world who come to visit her shop in Gabriel’s Wharf, to find an individual bespoke purchase that is different to anything found on the high street. Joanne says that when her customers wear a Joanne Plumb piece, they feel special, beautiful, and extremely colourful.

Skylark Art Galleries

Skylark Art Galleries is a vibrant collective of artists who work together to deliver a variety of original art both online and from their gallery at Gabriel’s Wharf.

Made up of 21 artists, Skylark has been exhibiting art at Gabriel’s Wharf for 30 years.

Each artist has a unique inspiration and process, so you will always find a rich mix of exciting artworks for you to enjoy, and you may well find a piece that’s just right for you!

Each artist takes turns to be on shift at the shop, so you will have the chance to meet an artist and have a friendly chat about their own creations or those of their colleagues.

The artists at Skylark appreciate their riverside location by the Thames, close to other London galleries such as the Tate Modern, and the creative energy of the South Bank feeds into the gallery and the artist’s works.

Skylark is a gallery run by the artists, full of surprises and amazing pieces of work, and visitors get to meet the artists themselves.
