This Sunday 29 October from 12-5pm, we’re ringing in the end of Black History Month on London’s South Bank with a family-friendly celebration of Black history, culture, and our diverse creatives in Gabriel’s Wharf.

We’ve got plenty of activities lined up to keep you entertained, including live DJs and musicians, drumming workshops for both children and adults, storytellers, a travelling book club, face painters, and more.

While you sit back and relax to the music, indulge in the delicious food and drink options available from our independent restaurants, such as LIMIN Southbank, an authentic Caribbean restaurant known for its hearty dishes and rum cocktails.

Browse through our independent shops and boutiques and find handmade, unique clothing, accessories and art. There’s something for everyone – whether you’re a fan of jewellery, vintage pieces, knitwear, or handmade prints.

So, what can you expect if you join in the fun at Gabriel’s Wharf?

Our diverse and jam-packed line-up includes:

  • DJ Abba – DJ Abba, an experienced DJ, will keep the party vibes going by playing a selection of music from across the globe.
  • The Cowfoot Prince – Usifu Jalloh, creator of The Cowfoot Prince, is an award-winning performer and educator with his roots in multicultural Sierra Leone. A spellbinding storyteller, The Cowfoot Prince serves as a platform for promoting Sierra Leonean and African cultures by embodying them within the rich oral heritages of his ancestry.
  • Book Love – Book Love is an award-winning collective of educators and creatives working together to promote multicultural literature for children and adults. Their mission is to tackle the underrepresentation of ethnic minorities in literature by spreading the ‘Book Love’ through their Travelling Multicultural Book Carnival, showcasing new and exciting children's books, young adult fiction, stationery, fashion, toys and so much more.
  • Yazidu – Yazidu, a storyteller, will perform Gullah Folk tales from the Georgia Coast.
  • Paulette Tajah – An accomplished Reggae artist of 40 years, Paulette will perform some of her top hits live for the audience.
  • Face painting We’ll also have a face painter available, perfect for family fun with the kids!
