Our family and children’s centre rated, ‘Outstanding’ from Ofsted, includes a nursery, parenting courses, drop in sessions and a range of specialist support. We’re here for families, whatever challenges they may face.

Covid-19 update: we are following guidance on restrictions and working hard to offer support to our community through virtual and face to face sessions. Our nursery remains open but some support sessions might be affected. Please get in touch to find out more.
Family and Children's centre

Best start for children and families

100% of parents who received one-to-one support said it helped. In our most recent satisfaction survey, over 1,300 parents, carers and children used our family support services. Families with children under 5 can access our services. We offer one-to-one support by appointment at the centre, or in your own home. 

From midwives drop-in sessions to healthy movers and breastfeeding counsellinh, we provide accessible and inclusive spaces. Parents or carers can receive support, advice and access to health or education services.

Early learning and development

We provide a safe environment for learning and development

Our family support team are experienced in supporting children’s early development in a range of fun ways. If you are concerned about your child’s development, we are available to support you through arranging an Early Years 1-2-1 session with our Early Years educators.

Free early learning at our nursery. We offer term time only places (38 weeks) to children who are entitled to 15 hours universal childcare from the term after their 3rd birthday or those entitled to funding for 2 year olds. You can be referred by your health visitor, family support worker, social worker, GP or an early years practitioner. Make a self-referral by contacting our team and access health and well-being sessions.

Priority places are given to parents and carers living in the Coin Street catchment area.  This includes the area south of the river Thames from Lambeth Bridge to Borough High Street and south to St George’s Circus.

Foodbank vouchers

We are a registered distributor of Foodbank Vouchers. If you’re in a food crisis, or you know someone who is, you can contact our family support team, confidentially. 

Vouchers for fresh fruit and vegetables

The Rose Vouchers Project helps parents with young children to buy fresh fruit and vegetables. Rose Vouchers are worth £4 per child or pregnancy and £6 if the child is under one year of age and can be redeemed at participating fruit and veg stalls at East Street market or Peckham.

Free Books for families

Bookstart gifts free books to all children at two key ages before school to help families read together every day and inspire children to develop a love of books and reading.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is devoted to inspiring a love of reading in the hearts of children. Enrolled children in Southwark from birth to age five receive a high quality, age appropriate book in the post, free of charge.
