和組 wagumi

Location: Oxo Tower Wharf

A shot of the wagumi store, including pots, mugs, chopsticks and more.

Opened in 2011, 和組 wagumi is a place to find craft and design from Japan.

Stocking the work of regional producers, individual artists, design collaborations and not for profits, wagumi highlights the variety and fun to be found in things made in Japan. The result is a flawless showcase of craftsmanship and design, symbolising the essence of Japanese spirit. The wa (和) in wagumi means “peace” and “harmony” and Gumi (組) can be translated as “team”.

Stocking a range of products from ceramics to wood and textiles to garden essentials like wellington boots; wagumi has over 25 makers who make up their collection of products, all of who are experts in different areas of their respective crafts.

Ryoko Mutasono, from wagumi, has won 'Best in Craft' from Monocle Design Awards for her Kasama Potters Project; read our blog about it here.
