Sotis Filippides creates handmade ceramics with clarity of vision and purpose. Every pot, bowl, and vase is thrown by hand and kiln-fired, embodying a deep commitment to craft.
Working across contemporary ceramic vessels and wall installations, Sotis explores form and surface with confidence. Each piece is anchored in his enduring fascination with texture - expressed through rough, tactile finishes shaped from fine clay sourced in Stoke-on-Trent, and enriched with natural, earthy hues achieved through copper and iron oxide glazes.
His work draws powerfully from the organic world. Inspired by trees, dry leaves, roots, and volcanic rock, Sotis channels these elemental forms into sculptural language. Childhood summers spent by the sea in Greece continue to resonate in his practice - the colours of pebbles and shells, the weathered textures of rocks and driftwood leaving a lasting imprint. These influences are not just recalled, but reimagined, forming the foundation of his latest body of work.
