Zak at Coin Street

Zak joined Coin Street through a partnership with The Autism Project and quickly became a valued member of both the Help Desk and Gentle Gardening teams. With tailored support and a welcoming environment, he has developed confidence, learned new skills and become an important part of the Coin Street community.

From greeting visitors at the Help Desk to supporting weekly gardening sessions, Zak has embraced every opportunity to contribute. Along the way, he has strengthened his communication, organisation and teamwork skills, growing in confidence as he has taken on new responsibilities.

Colleagues describe Zak as friendly, reliable and always willing to help. His volunteering has enabled him to gain valuable workplace experience while making a genuine contribution to the people and community around him.

Zak's story shows how accessible volunteering can help people discover their strengths, overcome barriers and build confidence for the future. It also demonstrates the positive impact that inclusive volunteering has - not only for the individual, but for the wider community.

"Volunteering at Coin Street has helped me become more confident, learn new skills and feel part of the team. I enjoy meeting people and knowing that I'm making a difference." – Zak
