Volunteering at Coin Street is rewarding for team members who understand how important community spaces are from their own personal experiences of supporting older relatives.
Over the past two years, tms have given their time, energy, creativity and planning skills to benefit a range of activities that Coin Street deliver. tms stands out not only for their enthusiasm but also for the understanding they show of what the community needs.
The team works flexibly with Coin Street, takes the time to build relationships with both staff and participants, and recognises the value of accessible, community‑based activities in tackling loneliness and fostering a sense of belonging.
Their contributions have ranged from coordinating a ‘mini-Olympics’ for our young people, decorating the room beautifully for our ‘Young at Heart’ seniors’ party, and volunteering to serve drinks and sandwiches and dance with guests at our seniors’ summer boat party. They also held an internal bake off and delivered a delicious range of sweet treats to our VE day themed coffee morning.
