From family support, fitness classes and learning to art exhibitions, festivals and talks, our activities are wide and far reaching.
Older residents of Waterloo and North Southwark were very much young at heart at the annual January party (Friday 17th). Attended by over 120 members of the local community, many of whom are regulars at our weekly community events, ranging from the Over 50s Art Group, to Gentle Gardening and Dance Aerobics to Singing and Wellbeing, they came together to eat, drink and dance to the sounds of Coin Street’s local disc jockey, DJ Smooth C.
David Hopkins, our Director of Community, said “the atmosphere at our Young at Heart event was everything that a great community event should be about. Seeing so many people eating, laughing, chatting and dancing together – it’s a great antidote to isolation and loneliness, something that too many older people experience, particularly at this time of year. And we couldn’t have pulled it off without the support of a fantastic team of volunteers”.
