We're still caring for our community

Art from children

Communities across the country have been coming to terms with the changes that the Covid-19 outbreak has brought.

At Coin Street we’re still here, working to find new ways to support our community in these unprecedented times.

Our Family Support and Youth and Community teams have been working hard to provide practical support for local people whose lives have been turned upside down. Keeping in touch via video links and phone calls.

Delivering Meals

Many families in our neighbourhood already use food banks, and we are now seeing greater numbers seeking help. Our teams have been responding to this and we have adapted our activities to meet the needs of our community. We have delivered 8,805 meals and have supported one thousand and forty local residents weekly.

Florence Eshalomi PM delivers meals with Coin Street

We’ve been working with partners Kitchen Social and more recently OXO Tower Restaurant to deliver over 100 hot meals a day to people in our neighbourhood. Our amazing staff and volunteers, including our new trustee Jack Goldfinch, local councillor Jen Mosley, and even our local MP Florence Eshalomi, all pitched in to help make sure that our special deliveries arrived to their destinations on time.

We are offering shopping services for vulnerable adults and free healthy lunch deliveries for local people. Please email N.Bell@coinstreet.org for more information.

Online Sessions

Many of our programmes have now gone virtual, including our Youth Forum, Family Support sessions including Stay ‘n’ Play, and wellbeing sessions. To see the sessions we are offering online click here. We’ve even started a YouTube channel with our partners at Southwark Children & Family centres so children don’t miss their favourite stories!

Activity packs and over 200 books have been delivered

Staff and volunteers have delivered 248 packs including activity packs to keep children busy while schools are closed and care packages given out to people of all ages.  If you know a family, parent or local person who would benefit from a pack, please email community@coinstreet.org.
