Last weekend was the first ever Creative Takeover. What started with the Coin Street Art Group wanting to show their work has developed into a mixed-media takeover of Bargehouse. A community project in facilitated by Coin Street and in collaboration with local artists. With four floors of exhibitions, performances, soundscapes and workshops the Bargehouse was filled with people exploring all the work on display.
Highlights included moving talks given by cancer survivors at Leanne Pero’s Black Women Rising exhibition, two performances of the play the Number 82 by Adanna Oji, Flux Soup‘s live music combined with animation which packed in a crowd and workshops that gave people the chance to make t-shirts, learn a new dance routine or sing.
