Attention, runners, or wannabe runners! Each year, Coin Street has spaces for fundraisers to take on The Big Half.
About The Big Half
The Big Half is organised by London Marathon Events. It is a vibrant, inclusive half marathon with a fun, festival atmosphere. The 13.1-mile course weaves through London from Tower Bridge to the iconic Cutty Sark in Greenwich. The minimum age for taking part is 17 years. You don’t have to be an experienced runner to join. They encourage beginners and provide easy to follow training plans to help you physically and mentally prepare for the challenge ahead.
Fundraising for Coin Street
Over the past two years, 27 people have participated in the Big Half, raising £10,240 for Coin Street’s youth and community work. A fantastic achievement! For the next event, we are seeking runners to help raise £300 each for Coin Street's health and social programme for older adults. The Coin Street neighbourhood centre and Colombo Centre provide safe, warm, and welcoming spaces for over 240+ older adults each year, participating in our programme.
Activities range from art, dance, gardening, fitness, coffee mornings, community singing, movie nights, crafts, park walks, boat parties, Young At Heart annual party, inter-generational dinners, trips to the seaside and more! We have witnessed firsthand the decline in the physical and mental health of older people in our community, exacerbated by the cost-of-living crisis. That’s why free community activities like those at Coin Street are vital, promoting social engagement, combating loneliness, and fostering a sense of belonging and purpose.

- Cheer squad on the day with refreshments after your run
- Group calls to motivate and support you with training and fundraising
