Blind Spot - Inner Vision Orchestra

Inner Vision Orchestra

11 JUNE 2021, 6pm. Join Baluji Shrivastav OBE and members of the Inner Vision Orchestra for a special series of Blind Spot musical events.

Join the Inner Vision Orchestra live at Gabriel’s Wharf at 6pm on Friday 11th June for ‘Gift of Africa’; featuring Remi Abati on sax, vocals from Linn Davies and Victoria Oruwari, Kevin Satizabal on keyboards and of course Baluji Shrivastav OBE on sitar, dholak and gopi.

Have a drink, something to eat, sit on the beach and allow us to entertain you with a blend of African songs and melodies with Indian percussion. This is part of a special series of Blind Spot musical events brought to you in collaboration with St John’s Church Waterloo and Coin Street and supported by the Arts Council.

‘Blind Spot’ will see small groups of musicians from the Inner Vision Orchestra perform regularly at venues and shine a spotlight on blind talent. We want to see more performances by talented blind musicians across the UK and around the world!

The IVO was founded in 2012 and is the world's only professional ensemble of blind musicians. Its extensive repertoire moves between songs from Iran, Lebanon, Afghanistan, India, Nigeria, soulful Gospel and Blues, sublime Indian Ragas and Western Classical compositions. They celebrate the diversity of their talented members who have been brought together from around the world by Indian maestro Baluji Shrivastav OBE.

Members of the orchestra burst onto the world stage at the Paralympics in 2012 and recently performed International Unlimited Commission ‘Antardrishti-Inner Vision’ to full audiences at Queen Elizabeth Hall, Norwich Arts Centre, The Royal Opera House in Mumbai and The British Council Theatre in Delhi. Members of the orchestra also give music workshops which are free to attend for all blind and partially sighted people. Driven by the intensity of an inner vision they believe in the power of music to transform lives!

Please remember hands, face, space at Gabriel's Wharf.
