Sonia's Story

Sonia

I am Portuguese and came to London in 2005, a journey that set the stage for many significant changes in my life.

I am a single mother of two beautiful daughters, and in 2014, I opened my heart and home to foster three lovely boys. Fostering has been one of the best decisions I've ever made; these children feel like my own.

By 2020, I was living in a three-bedroom house in Camberwell SE5. Life was bustling, but the younger boy was turning three and could no longer share a room with me. Desperate for more space, I began looking for a mutual exchange. After a couple of months, I found a perfect match with a tenant from Iroko.

I was ecstatic. The new house was a dream come true: five bedrooms, a back garden, and a communal garden. Moving to such a spacious place meant I could keep all my foster boys with me, sparing them from having to move to another family.

In November 2020, we moved to Cornwall Road, and we've been living here ever since. The neighbours welcomed us warmly and are always ready to lend a helping hand. The communal garden has been a wonderful place for the kids to play when the weather is nice.

My youngest foster child attends Coin Street nursery, a place I wholeheartedly recommend. The staff there are incredibly friendly and professional. The other boys go to Oasis Academy Johanna, another fantastic school. My daughters love living here, especially now that they each have their own room.

We often walk by the riverside, enjoying the most amazing views. I love living in this house and often tell my friends that I am the Queen of my Castle, because that's truly how I feel.

I am deeply grateful to all the Coin Street staff and my wonderful neighbours for making this such an incredible experience.
