We are excited to welcome the Meet Vincent van Gogh Experience to the neighbourhood from February untill May 2020.
This temporary attraction has captivated audiences in Beijing, Barcelona, Lisbon and Seoul and will be located on the Doon Street car park.
The Meet Vincent van Gogh Experience is a fully immersive experience with activities and an audio guide which allows visitors to explore the artist’s life and understand the influences and techniques behind Van Gogh’s most loved works.
The permanent development of our Doon Street site will provide new public swimming and indoor leisure facilities. The development is split into three phases, all of which have planning consent. We are already benefitting from the first phase – Rambert’s headquarters and dance studios which was completed in 2013. The partnership with Coin Street delivers a community engagement programme including dance and fitness classes for toddlers to ‘Mercury Movers’, sessions at local schools, and tickets to Rambert’s performances.
As a social enterprise, income generated from temporary use stays in the neighbourhood. It is invested into providing over 70 hours a week of community activities and ensuring the Coin Street site is an inspirational place for people to live, work and play. We are working with the creators of Meet Vincent van Gogh to encourage local people, schools and community groups to engage and benefit from having the exhibition in the Waterloo neighbourhood.
