The event will take place on 23 April from 11am - 2pm. It will be a chance to look around the Community Garden area and hear from our gardeners about what they are growing and how their efforts are supporting our local wildlife.
There will be cakes, refreshments, lavender bags and family friendly activities; so come along and enjoy with your family and friends!
What is Good to Grow Day?
Good to Grow Day is a national weekend of action from Friday 22 to Monday 25 April for edible gardens to celebrate and prepare for the new growing season, promote their activities and encourage people to volunteer.
Supported by Laura our Community Participation Manager and Jasmine our Community Gardener, the Gentle Gardening group meets weekly to learn about growing vegetables, herbs and plants and enjoy trips to local gardens. They maintain the community garden in Bernie Spain Gardens beautifully - there's always different vegetables and herbs to be spotted!
I was one of the first members of the group. When I started volunteering it was just me and the gardener. I have a window box at home and love to learn about plants. I used to hate gardening but now I love it. These sessions are the highlight of my week.
