S.M.I.L.E-ing Boys Installation

SMILE-ing Boys experience

The S.M.I.L.E-ing Boys Experience is an exhibition and outdoor installation of the S.M.I.L.E-ing Boys project created by the artist Kay Rufai.

The project is a happiness research led creative arts project which addresses the mental health needs of black boys while challenging the negative stereotypes of this demographic in the media & in the society.

The Project was created as a direct response to the rise in serious youth violence (Gun and Knife crime) which sparked a series of reactionary approaches from the government regarding tougher criminalisation of youth, more stop and searches and greater police presence in global majority communities.
