The award highlights the innovative approaches taken by the Family and Children’s Centre team to address challenges faced by families in the community, delivering practical support and empowering solutions. Claudia Garcia, a member of the award-winning team, played a significant role in this achievement, contributing her expertise and dedication to ensuring the success of these vital initiatives. Other members of the winning Developing Brain Workshops (FoLSM) were Tomoki Arichi, Leyla Hadiyat and Fatemeh Mozaffari.
In addition to this recognition, the partnership between Deanne Naula from Coin Street’s Youth and Community Programme and the School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences (BMEIS) was nominated.
Since first partnering in 2021 as part of King’s Civic Challenges, BMEIS researchers and support staff have developed a strong working relationship with Coin Street through open conversations and knowledge sharing. This collaboration has been instrumental in understanding local needs, as well as identifying areas of mutual interest, further strengthening the connection between innovative research and community impact.
Claudia Garcia, Senior Early Years and Family Coordinator said: “This initiative was in response to local families' need and desire to learn more about why some children develop differently. Being part of the team at Coin Street’s Family and Children’s Centre, and contributing to this incredible collaboration with King’s College London, has been a really enriching experience. Winning this award is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our team to provide the best start for children and families. We’re proud to see our efforts recognised in this way.”
Coin Street Community Builders congratulates the entire Family and Children’s Centre team and celebrates the nomination of the Youth and Community Programme partnership. These achievements underscore the power of collaboration and the transformative impact of community-driven initiatives.
