Gabriel’s Wharf is a popular riverside destination for people who live, work and visit the area.
Originally old garages now with shop fronts added, the units make excellent retail spaces, catering units and design studios. The blank wall of the London Studios was painted to provide an imaginative trompe d’oeil backdrop. The opening of Gabriel’s Wharf in 1988 brought life to an area that had long been derelict and signalled the start of the rebirth of the South Bank.
The design shops at Gabriel’s Wharf are run by small businesses who design and manufacture their own products, the majority of products for sale will have been made by the person selling them to you. If you can’t find exactly what you are looking for it is possible to commission many of the designers directly. The catering units offer a wide range of cuisine from delicious vegan salads, gourmet pizzas, colourful Caribbean lunches and hearty toasted sandwiches. There is really something for everyone in this unique pocket on the South Bank.
As ever in our community and the area it is in, there is a lot going on and a great deal of change planned or taking place. Our plans for the permanent development of Gabriel’s wharf remain unchanged; to provide a care home and improve our services and facilities for older people in our community.
