We’re still caring for our community
Communities across the country have been coming to terms with the changes that the Covid-19 outbreak has brought. At Coin Street we’re still here, working to find new ways to support our community in these unprecedented times.
Our Family Support and Youth and Community teams have been working hard to provide practical support for local people whose lives have been turned upside down. Keeping in touch via video links and phone calls.
Many of families in our neighbourhood already use food banks, and we are now seeing greater numbers seeking help. Our teams are responding to this and we are adapting our activities to meet this rise in demand.
We’re working with partners Kitchen Social to deliver over 100 hot meals a day to people in our neighbourhood. Our amazing staff and volunteers, including our new trustee Jack Goldfinch, local councillor Jen Mosley, and even our local MP Florence Eshalomi, all pitched in to help make sure that our special deliveries arrived to their destinations on time.
Many of our programmes have now gone virtual, including our Youth Forum, Art Group, and health and fitness sessions. To see the sessions we are offering online click here. We’ve even started a YouTube channel with our partners at Southwark Children & Family centres so children don’t miss their favourite stories!
Staff have also been delivering action packs to keep children busy while schools are closed. These packs include arts and crafts supplies, games and over 200 books. If you know a family or parent who would benefit from a pack, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
