Girls’ Club – Photography Project

At our weekly Girls’ Club, which currently runs from Blackfriars@Livingspace, we strive to host an exciting and engaging programme of activities for young women aged 12–16 years old.

And in an age where most young people prefer to post pictures on Snapchat and Instagram, we decided to run a photograhy project, testing their skills with the use of a ‘retro’ piece of equipment… the trusty disposable!

We gave the girls their very own camera for a week (an ancient relic in the day of digital) and they were tasked with snapping pics of their daily lives. With prizes to be won for a whole host of categories, they all got involved and experimented with a variety of shots from portraits to puddles, buses to buildings.

And after an anxious wait for their prints to develop, we are proud to present the winning selection:

In the coming weeks, we will be going Go-Karting, hosting a spoken word workshop, making a Christmas dinner and cooking as a group.
